DC Comics is an American comic book and related media company. A subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment (part of Time Warner) since 1969, DC is the world's largest English language publisher of comic books, with one of the largest shares of the direct market of the United States' comic book industry. DC Comics produces material featuring a large number of characters — many of which have been considered among the most influential in their genre's history. These include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and their teammates in the Justice League.

DC Comics was founded as National Allied Publications in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. The initials "DC" were originally an abbreviation for Detective Comics (one of their comic book titles), and later became the company's official name. DC has been succesively headquartered at different areas of New York City, including: 432 Fourth Avenue; 480 and later 575 Lexington Avenue; 909 Third Avenue; 75 Rockefeller Plaza; 666 Fifth Avenue; and 1325 Avenue of the Americas. DC moved to 1700 Broadway in the mid-1990s, relocating there with Warner Bros. Entertainment's Mad, which had moved from 485 Madison Avenue. Paul Levitz is the President and Publisher whileDan DiDio is the Senior Vice President, DC Executive Editor.

Searching DC....comics.

Last month, ive' been in Trinoma; the new ayala mall located in north edsa,Philippines. Ive been searching for the best Justice League comic book, for my creative resource in my Justice League Event for kids thesis. After several minutes looking, I manage to find a comic bookstore at the second floor of the mall. I asked the owner if they have the latest issue of the Justice League Unlimited for kids, unfortunately they don't. They only sell "collector comic book items" of different comic book genres and magazines (mostly DC and Marvel superheroes). I do like to buy a magazine because i browse one, and it was ideal and comprehensive, but it cost too much, the price range was 300,500 & 1000+ pesos. So, I looked for their on-sale items and bought one comic book costing 160 pesos which is the Justice League America.

Being persistent in finding one Justice League Unlimited comic bookfor kids which i seen available in other countries, based on the internet, i walked and searched in SM north edsa mall beside Trinoma to find one. Luckily, i manage to see 5 comic books of its kind, the exact one that im looking for. I would like to buy it all but i dont have enough cash. So, i pick the best one and bought it for 150 pesos. Fair enough, i got no regrets in buying both, even if the one is Justice League America because i believe that the two books will help me compare and know different drawing style and techniques of DC comics, (adult nor kids oriented).

Cartoon Memories

A Cartoon Experience

Since childhood, cartoons has been part of my everyday life, when I woke up every morning, i go straight to our living room, grab the remote and click on to any cartoon channel I want, after several minutes I would hear my mom saying “Eia kaga-galing mo lang sa kama naka higa ka na naman, gawain yan ng mga tamad, patayin mo nga yang t.v. at hawakan mo ang walis mas mabuti pa!” (“ Eia you already had been from bed and now you lay down again, that’s what lazy people do, better turn off that t.v. and hold on to the broom.”) Until now, I still often hear that saying.

I still remember, Tom and jerry, captain planet, and mickey mouse are my morning toons, princess sarah, heidi, cedi and tom sawyer are my afternoon toons while takore, babebube boink and sailormoon are my evening toons. These toons were my childhood favorites and so far I still see them in cable channels as replays.

Cartoons are very significant for me; in fact I still prefer watching cartoons nowadays such as, Disney classic cartoon movies, hanna-barberra toons, huckleberryfinn, the simpsons, flinstones, jetsons, topcat, pink panther, bubuchacha and many more, Justice League and Pokemon is my favorite.

I easily appreciate any cartoon I watch that’s why even adult-oriented cartoons are interesting for me even my favorite book is cartoon related (comic book). I like doodling caricatures and funny faces; in fact, my biggest dream is to become a Pixar animator someday. Hopefully it would come true.
I believe through my experience, cartoons are among the simple joys of every child, it helps their well-being and development and learn important values such as friendship, leadership, determination, confidence etc., while at the same time being entertained. Therefore, cartoons today must incorporate and sustain these values and must not employ violence, because I think that media environment greatly affects children.

Importance of the Justice League adventure event for kids

What is a superhero? A superhero is a fictional character or costumed crime fighters "of unprecedented, physical prowess dedicated to acts of derring-do in the public interest.”[1] One example of superheroes is the Justice League superhero team.

Justice League was the name of an American animated television series that was produced by and aired on Cartoon Network, a cable television network created by Turner Broadcasting which primarily shows animated programming that features a wide array of superheroes from the DC Comics, an American comic book and related media company.[2]

The Justice League kids event is the first ever kids event in the Philippines that will generate both indoor and outdoor adventure themed games and activities that will provide and enhance the child’s well being and development. It will allow the children to enjoy gaming while learning, develop their critical and creative thinking, be entertained and most of all learn wisdom and important values such as sportsmanship, friendship, respect, sharing, courage etc.

The event will exclusively feature the Justice League heroes in person that will allow the children to mingle and talk to them personally. As heroes, they will teach the children good values and inspire them to be productive role models and citizens. Thus, the kids will gain freedom to think, play and learn among themselves. The event will provide entertainment through learning that will help build self-esteem among children as well as strengthen family bonds.

There are many opportunities for the Justice League kid’s event. One is to increase brand awareness from our target market as well as to increase product preference among Cartoon network and DC merchandise. Another is to provide better product positioning, since, there is desertion among indoor and outdoor physical gaming, and the event might bring life to it, and serve as a healthy mode of playing while learning. Modern technology will be applied to the event and can be a strong marketing tool.

Another is our strong hold to our sponsors and strategic alliances as well as moving forward into new market segments such as events to provide better profit to us and to our alliances thus, it will help their market to stabilize. Finally, the event might turn into an annual event.

Therefore the event is very significant not only to a child but on his or her environment. It will not only promote fun but learning as well.
